5 Ways to Help Launch Careers for Young Women

5 Ways to Help Launch Careers for Young Women Women’s well-being is a topic that comes up in the media again and again. One of the hottest subject areas within this topic is how to help women advance in their careers. Many women need help getting their careers off the ground. They’re completely capable of having a successful career â€" they just need someone to help get them to the starting line. What help means for each woman is different, depending on her background and where her interests lie, so if you feel the need to lend a hand, you’ll be able to find a way to get involved.  Here are five ways to help launch careers for young women. Show How to Be a Personal Advocate Traditional gender roles often hold women back in their jobs. For example, women often learn the way to better themselves and their lives is to work hard and help others, and in the end, they’ll get recognition for their good, quiet work. Because of this, women subconsciously work until their supervisors point out their efforts. Speaking up for themselves isn’t a key goal. However, being your own personal advocate is essential to both starting a career and continuing one. No one will speak up for you better than yourself, and that’s what women should learn. Talk with the women you want to help about how they’d approach a conversation where they have to talk positively about what they do. Would they be too shy to accurately describe what good work ethics they have, and what would make them a great employee? Encourage the women in your life to be in an environment where they can speak positively about themselves without being chided for being prideful or self-centered. Having confidence and pride in their abilities is going to get them to the career of their dreams. No one else knows their skills better than they do, and they should want to talk about how great they are! Help With Pay-Negotiation Strategies The intimidation that comes along with thoughts about negotiating pay isn’t exclusive to one gender, but women in particular are more often left out of the conversation about what they should be paid and how to talk about money with an employer. Maybe you know a bit about how to reason for a pay raise, but are nervous about broaching the topic with your boss. As time passes, more people are becoming open to the idea of talking about money, so there are plenty of tips to read if you want to learn about negotiating pay. Share what you find with the women you want to help, and always offer yourself as a resource to help bounce ideas off of. Teach Communication Methods Some women don’t have any issue with knowing what they want and how to get there, but they may not know the best ways of communicating those ambitions. No matter what age they are, you can help the women you care about better their communications skills. Emphasize the importance of paying attention to body language, and if you’re in a situation where they’re trying to speak up but can’t quite get there, help amplify their voice by repeating their statements and agreeing with them. By doing this, you’ll help everyone pay more attention to what they’re trying to say without undermining them and taking control of the conversation. This will lead to better confidence for them in future discussions. Connect Women With Resources As much as you may want to help, you may not be able to provide everything a woman needs to get started in her career. In that case, make sure you have resources that can help. Most often, women seeking a higher education to get a good career are in the most need, like being pointed in the right direction to get scholarships. Many women also have to go to school in a different country, so if you can offer your help as a host family, you should look into it! Practice Networking Techniques One of the best things anyone can learn to always have an extended career is networking. Networking isn’t a skill people learn in school, but it should be. Especially for women needing help jumping into a career, it could be the thing that starts the ball rolling for them. Networking is a great way to use the connections you have to make more in the future. Just always make sure to keep track of them on a spreadsheet! Helping women start their chosen careers is a great way to pass along the resources and knowledge you have. Always make sure to put the women first and let them complete the steps they need on their own, rather than doing it for them. In the end, you’ll help inform and educate them so they can pass along the help to other people in need.

How to Detox When You Work Full Time

How to Detox When You Work Full Time With all of the impurities that we expose ourselves to on a daily basis, detoxing is a crucial means of keeping our bodies and minds clean, clear and in balance. Since the detoxification process requires focus, most recommend that you only do it when you are completely undistracted. Unfortunately, most of us cannot take a week off from work to detox, meditate and get back on track. This doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to detox while working a full time job.   But it does indicate that you’re going to have to closely manage your progress as you continue to work. Drinking a gentle detox tea while you are in the workplace can definitely help you, but read on for some further advice. Getting Mentally Prepared The goal of detoxing is to rid your body of everything bad, from the inside out. As such, you won’t be eating much, if any, food, which can cause the body to go through shock as your caloric intake drops substantially. Albeit a little unorthodox, the act of detoxing actually gives the digestive system a much needed break. It takes a lot of energy to break down even the simplest of foods.  So if you stop putting food into your system, your body can heal, release toxins and help to rejuvenate your vital organs. After you fully understand that detoxing while maintaining full time employment will be hard, you can get into the right headspace. Choosing a Start Date The first couple of days of your detox are going to be especially rough. So while most people like to get a fresh start to the work week, you might want to hold off on starting your detox until the weekend. Give yourself a few days to get acclimated to the changes that your body will be going through before you attempt to continue your detox while at work. Ideally, you should start your detox plan during an extended weekend or when you will have a few days off from work consecutively. Redirecting Your Mind During the course of your detox, you might experience strange thoughts as well as frequently shifting emotions. More often than not, people actively detoxing can feel like giving up intermittently, even when they know and understand the benefits of what they are doing. This is simply the human body’s response to a continued lack of food. You might get cravings for foods that you had long sworn off, or suddenly feel like having a bite to eat here or there won’t do any harm. When your mind starts to run in the opposite direction, take a breath and redirect your energy toward a positive outcome. At the end of a successful detox, the very first thing you should notice is how your energy levels have improved. Clearer skin, more comfortable bowel movements and a proclivity to eat cleaner are also common detox results. You may not think it will be possible for you to get through your detox while working a full time job, but adequate planning can help you to manage completely reasonable expectations. See if your job will help to accommodate your efforts by putting you on light duty or extending the deadline for a project that you’re responsible for while cleaning your body of its internal impurities. What a Good Accounting Resume Needs to Say?

What a Good Accounting Resume Needs to Say?The accounting resume is the resume of choice for many who are considering a career in accounting. Accounting is a booming field that is likely to be on the rise in the coming years. This means that there will be a shortage of qualified candidates in some parts of the country.Accounting careers require strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail and business savvy. These skills make an account manager appealing to clients and employers. Accountants have to analyze the numbers to make sure all the figures add up.A degree from a local school or college is not always sufficient to land a job in the accounting field. It is also important to understand the nature of the work that is involved. If you have earned your degree, but still want to apply for a job in the accounting field, take care to emphasize what your strengths are and how they can be used in a job description.Accounting resumes are typically very short. The fact that this docum ent is usually used to catch the attention of a potential employer makes it an essential tool in the toolbox. When the first page of the resume has a heading that reads 'I am a ...' that is all the information that the person seeking employment will be able to provide. After that first page, it gets more difficult to tell what the person seeking employment has to offer. The first thing that should be listed on the resume is a very concise statement that tells what the person seeking employment knows about accounting. From there, a summary of the education and work experience that the person has acquired. In addition, a sample of a previous account work is generally necessary. This will serve as an illustration of what the applicant has done previously.Once a resume is completed, it goes through a thorough review by the human resources department at the company. This is an opportunity for an applicant to make changes in the resume if the information is inaccurate. At the end of the in terview process, the interviewer will compare the contents of the resume with the requirements for the position that the person seeking employment holds. The next step is for the hiring manager to review the application package that has been received. This will include a resume, cover letter and any additional information that the person has sent. The information that is requested is likely the most important part of the entire application process, since it is used to decide if the person will be hired for the position. It is important for an applicant to focus on getting their resume organized. Many people tend to leave a lot of information off of their resume, either because they forgot to do so or did not know that they had to. Once this information is collected, the applicant should start taking steps to put it together. There is not much work to be done after this point, since the resume is now being used to find an appropriate job.

Introverts- Tap Into Your Strengths During Job Search I am an introvert. Ive been born with and developed many other personality flaws and strengths and they make me the quirky, unique, sometimes lovable person I am today. Are you an introvert too? What Are the Strengths of Introverts? In case you havent figured it out yet, these are some of the noteworthy characteristics of introverts! They prefer to think before they act. They need time to formulate ideas in their heads before talking about them. They prefer depth over breadth; this is true of relationships and information. They are creative (either in solving problems or in the arts) They are often good at thinking up strategies They make good innovators They are humble They take calculated risks (based on fact finding) They remain calm under pressure And most importantly, introverts  regain energy by being alone. Lets Translate This Into Skills Not all introverts are the same, but many share these skills: Good listening skills Analytical skills Problem-solving skills Strong concentration abilities One-on-one communication You Are NOT Shy You are not shy or anti-social, but that is how you are often perceived by people who first meet you. You can fix that! And actually, you HAVE to fix that during job search. We live in a society that expects outgoing, gregarious types. But this doesnt mean you have to put on a fake, over-the-top persona. All you have to do is Acknowledge and accept the fact that you may be perceived as shy or anti-social or less than approachable. It sounds obvious, but some people dont realize this is how they come across. Own it and take preventative measures. These are the simple and immediate fixes you can implement today: Smile! When you first meet someone or walk into a room. Introduce yourself first! Dont hang against the wall waiting for a familiar face or for someone to reach out to you. Start stepping outside your comfort zone. Here are 10  tips to come more interested and interesting. My Secrets for Overcoming the Fear of Networking During job search, you know you should overcome your fear of networking and interviewing. This can be intimidating to introverts who generally avoid social situations. But not all networking has to occur in large groups. #1. Arrange one-on-one networking meetings #2. Research the person you are going to meet so you can create some small talk questions for them when you first meet. #3. If you must go to a networking event, ask someone to go with you! This helps hold you accountable and gives you a fall back person to talk to if you must. #4. Re-energize often. Its ok to spend some time alone! Rather than try to change who I am, Ive reached a time in my life where I am OK with some of these things. (The truth- some still puzzle and annoy me.) I wish I had figured this out sooner! But maybe it was the passing of time and developing a greater sense of self awareness that led me where I am today. Todays post on US News World Report has more insights and tips.
